How does encounter produce the desire to archive or the archive itself?
When writing about the methods used for researching more-than-human histories, the concept of “bumping into” retains the organic, unplanned spontaneity of these encounters. The incidental nature of “bumping into” also suggests that, had things gone differently, those archived animals could easily have remained unfound.
